The Plaque which marks the point on the sidewalk where the Plymouth is buried.

The 1957 poster to publicise the event.

       The digging begins...

The concrete top of the capsule is located.

Work continues to expose all of the concrete cover.

The lid is opened, but things don't look good. Water has managed to find its way into the concrete bunker which has held the car and its contents for the last 50 years.

The remaining sections are removed as the water is pumped out which is about 12" deep so there is still some hope although the tyres may be shot.!

A crane and lifting gear are bought in to lift the Belvedere into the 21st Century.

At least it hasn't fallen into a heap of rust..!

The car is to be unveiled at a ceremony in Tulsa.

After the protective covers are removed it seems preservation in the 50's were not as good as hoped..

A closer look reveals a re-paint will be required..

Boyd Coddington was at the unveiling to attempt to start the car if possible. A look under the hood soon ruled that out...

This will take more than a new battery and some Easy Start..!

Someone say the keys should be in the glovebox...?

The other items put in the car did not fair well either.

The best preserved items were in a sealed container inside the car.

The Lucky winner or their relative is still to be announced, but I don't think they will be looking forward to getting the keys...
